Oct 16 The Mentalist 5×03 Review

The Mentalist” featured its share of schemers, as a bank robbery went bad in “Not One Red Cent.”

But before we go there, let’s talk about shoes. At first I was surprised that Jane was going to wait for his shoes, but then again the sign did say “While U Wait” shoe repair and I could see Jane being the type to take them up on it.

I thought Patrick trying out the foot powder was funny, but those loaner shoes were so un-Jane-like I laughed every time I saw them. The very thought of loaner shoes skeeves me out a bit but I suppose Jane didn’t have much of a choice. And as much as he surprisingly made the best of it, he did consider stealing a dead man’s footwear when he looked through Ernie’s bedroom.

Back to the murderer. I assumed there was a personal reason that Ernie ended up dead. There seemed to be no other reason to kill him in an otherwise calm, precise bank robbery.

Nancy was cold, vengeful and stupid. She killed Ernie because he was going to leave her. Was her pride really worth the risk of going to prison for the rest of her life? She had the proof that he was involved in the bank robbery. As Cho said, why not just turn him in? She had the evidence. Heck, there may have even been a reward. Personally, I would have rather seen him suffer in prison if I were in her shoes.

Oct 07 The Mentalist 5×01 – Review

Posted by Debby | filed in: Uncategorized | (0) Comments

Yesterday, WhatCulture posted an interesting review/recap on the latest “The Mentalist” episode, 5×01 “The Crimson Ticket”. I decided to share it with you!

The Mentalist Season 5 kicks off with ‘The Crimson Ticket’, in what eventually turns out to be the week after the events of the Season 4 finale ‘The Crimson Hat’. As I did with that episode, this will be a large recap and review, something I’ll be doing for all episodes considered ‘big’ (finale, premiere etc.) or ‘important’ (such as the upcoming 100th episode). All other episodes however, will be accompanied by a regular sized review much like my piece on 4.22 ‘So Long, and Thanks For All The Red Snapper’ last season.

We start with the CBI and FBI butting heads. Tension between the two bureaus exists for a few reasons, 1. They blame each other for the botched operation that lead to the death of Luther Wainwright (Michael Rady) and ruined their chances of catching Red John, 2. They are fighting over custody of Lorelei Martins (Emmanuelle Chriqui), a Red John operative caught in said operation and 3. Jane (Simon Baker) knows via Red John himself that someone in the FBI is working for the serial killer and the FBI don’t trust Jane because, well, he’s Jane. For these reasons, Jane and the CBI spend the majority of the episode fighting (sometimes literally) in order to keep Lorelei out of the FBI and Red John’s clutches.

As we open with a shot of Jane staring intensely at Lorelei through what is presumably one-way glass, one gets the impression that poor obsessed Jane hasn’t been doing much else since her capture. Lisbon (Robin Tunney) quickly brings him around with a reminder that the FBI will not allow him to talk to her, as she is shot appearing and then disappearing into complete darkness. Ominous.

Apr 17 Christmas Project!

Posted by Debby | filed in: Uncategorized | (0) Comments

Dear lovely Robin fans! I’d like to start a huge Christmas project this year, and I need YOUR help to achieve it. I want you to send me letters, images, fan art, cards or whatever you can think of, to wish her a merry Christmas. Fan art referring to her projects (e.g. “The Mentalist“), or characters/character relationships (e.g. Jisbon/Jello) are fine and desired, as long as they include attached Christmas wishes. I’d like to collect all your messages/pictures to create and design a Christmas book. I already contacted her agency to make sure that she definitely gets the book and I won’t have the book get lost! If there are any problems occurring, I will let you know and turn the x-mas book into an online project. Deadline is December 10! Anything I receiver after December 10 won’t be shown in the Christmas project, I’m sorry. So, hurry up and make sure to send your fan art to debby[at]robintunneyweb.net or click here!

YOUR E-MAIL SHOULD INCLUDE:

Your Name: (First name + first letter of your last name)
Your Country:
Your fan-art: (Everything’s accepted except from videos, mp3′s, moving graphics since it’s going to be a part of a book!)

NOTE: If the project’s going to turn into an online project, I’ll let you know and you will be able to send videos, mp3′s etc. too!
